JF Admin.:
Krista Jane - I like your name :). Thanks for the uplifting comment. I've been flying THE FLIGHT continously for 5 years now ... never wavered because --- You're right! My ideals of: A Gentle World, Beautiful Melodic Music and The images in my head; are so strong ... I must get it out there even in my little way :) I love what I'm doing.

freindly in music
Martina
JF Admin.:
Hi Martina - Glad you like it.
If you send me an e mail at: admin@JuliansFlight.com ... I can send you a playlist (maybe a track of what you like most). I do however urge anyone who likes these artists to support them by buying their CDs. Musicians who understand Melody and Harmony like these are VERY RARE ... We must support them so they can keep creating and stay focus to their ART. They deserve this.

Hi Julian,
My god! What beautiful beautiful music you are playing on the flight right now. What country is this from? I would truly appreciate some information about these artists, they are incredible. "relentless beauty" is an apt title, I get goosebumps. Please please pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease most especially the samba wityh the girl singing. My god this is so beautiful I even get teary-eyed.
JF Admin.:
Hello Carol - Hey, it's been awhile :). Talk about getting goose bumps ... I must've listened a thousand times to that track you're referring to --- it is divine. If you listen closely to it (on your headphones) there's even a muted baritone harmony towards the end ... real musicians, I am effing BLOWN AWAY myself. Their music re-invented music; so many little things to listen to particularly the unexpected progressions only fresh minds can come up with ( yeah, I do get carried away)
Please send me an email to my admin. and i will send you the titles in their native languages (sorry there are no translations even in their liner notes) ... by the way, If you're anywhere near San Francisco, you maybe able to buy the CDs readily --- that's where I bought them :)
-Julian
|
JF Admin.:
they were played to me by the owner herself at the Japan Town center ... sorry can't remember the name of the music store ... I just lucked out cause some seriously pretty music were playing when I was there, and of course --- I must have them :) or at least whatever I can get for the $$$ stretch ... at $45 each not very much :(

Your site is a must for real music lovers. True to it's moniker-the color of melody, this is a champion site for all music with perfect melodies. I can't get enough of all the music you've put together here. Where are they from? I wish you'd label them so we can buy them as well. Keep this up and you'll have my support.
Ron D-Amico
JF Admin.:
Ron -
What can I say man?
I'm humbled --- calling us a Champion Site is pretty heavy ... I really am moved. What you hear on this site is a result of filtering the kind of music that appeals to me.
As I've said time and again --- "Inspired Music". I will hear it because it doesn't have any wrong notes ... I will find it because it is music written with their heart and passion intact ... fresh music will always stay as it is.
Thank you Ron for your generosity as well. Thanks even more for recognizing and validating THE FLIGHT ... e mail on the way.

Thanks Paul (the Hague) ... for contributing to the current front playlist.
That beautiful Slow Samba fits in perfectly.

The Hague:
It's my pleasure, captain (listening to the music on my new pc with an awesome soundcard).
Best from warm Holland.

The Hague:
....btw, El Turista is magnificent!

jf, el capitan : ):
Pauley - I can imagine you surrounded by walls and layers of great sounds my friend ... sipping your coffee/tea/or some feel good beverage or smoke --- talk about getting lost in music.
Yeah Josh seems to be enjoying his la vida loca en Espana ... One thing I like about him is that; he seems to make music apace with his life --- slow and taking in all the beauty ... no rush at all.
How 'bout them "Orange Boys", huh?! ... I totally enjoyed the game yesterday. I can only imagine the craziness going on there ... hehe.
Enjoi the craziness bud.

Dear Webmaster,
Salutations to a fantastic website. A good musician friend told me about here to see music and listen to what is going on in the real music making world. All I can say is your flight have chenge my way of listening. This music is coming to me in almost like i just started to fall in love with music. Just the very first time. You explain music in this very feeling way no one has done before. I hope you stay here forever inspiring artists; musicians; and plain listeners just like me.
thank you kindly and keep doing this beautiful work.
guy howard

JF Admin.:
Hello Guy - What a heartfelt message you have here --- I am equally grateful.
The "Circle of Inspiration" between Musical and Visual artists has gone timeless ... (Ravel/Ophelia, Satie/Degas, Metheny/Klee ...) ...and THE FLIGHT will always stay true to this course +++.
As long as there's music to inspire me ... I will honour it visually and with thoughtful expression because, a great piece of music deserves an acknowledgement in depth.
Thanks again Guy.
We'll be watching your part of the World in the Cup.

Hey, bud, how're u doing these days? Recovered from the "O" impact yet? Let it linger, bud.
I understood you too heard Greg's new laid back tunes and just about discovered the same influences I did, among them Pierre Bensusan. I nailed Tommy Emmanuel. His (Greg's) music is still very strong, very melodic and straight from the heart (the source, as he calls it) don't you think?
I hope you'll have a great Summer, with lots of sunshine, love and music (hopefully no oil spoiling the Florida shores).
Best from Paul
JF Admin.:
Hey Pauley - Wow! how can one recover from something Life changing? : ) ... that my friend is a revelation of what great obsession can produce (thankfully Metheny's is Music).
About Greg --- I finally have to do my tribute to my fave GW track (One Moment One Summer) ... I told him "such a beautiful piece deserves an acknowledgement in depth" ... and yeah, his new track "Estless" (trib. to Esbjorn Svensson) is growing on me ... Melodic, Harmonic, Symphonic --- Music with substance. Everything's in place with him ... I'm not surprised #3 is taking a bit.
Oil spill is sad. I personally know some people who makes their livelihood from the seas ... just small everyday people who got walloped by this.
Now you have one great summer yourselves there ... maybe you should breathe some highland aire with Tommy biking around ... I'm slowly getting in on Biking and see myself not relying on 4 wheels in the next few. (that includes moving close to work and all)
Hugs,
see you here or at the Garage buddy.
|
thehague:
The oil is indeed a big big tragedy. Makes you wonder: wtf is happening to the world? Why are such risks being taken at the cost of nature and livelihood of people?
Btw who is singing that beautiful rendition of the EBTG tune on the Nyteflight? I just love that voice.
Paul.
|
JF Admin.:
Paul - I think about these things ... and the more I think ... the more alone I feel.
I am not sure how long this planet can withstand this abuse but, this my friend is for sure: The radioactive fumes that go up in the sky will come down as rain somewhere ... It's a simple logical cycle but it's not "priority 1" ... sad, sad in some parts babies are born with twisted limbs like pretzels.
These greedy bastards need to get their "just karma" and they will ... there is Universal justice ... not some man made law that the uber rich can buy and bend.
well enough of that ... you'll get me going and I won't stop (I swear ...hehe)
DRIVING by Olivia Ong is that EBTG track on NiteFlyte ... (watch your Wanadoo mail). I like this version better ... there is no edginess. A pretty voice with that longing tone --- seems like a loooong drive to see someone : )
glad you like it man ... enjoy the track.

Great tune! Thanks for e'ing me.

Hi Julian, this is incredible what you're doing here. A lot of amazing new music to discover, beautiful art with your one of a kind prose ...... very, very well done!
Thank you for the music list, hope to see you again at the next Metheny (or Michael Franks) show around our neck o' the woods I think that Pedro Aznar song just came on. Wow this is something else ..... definitely a must have
take care
Sammy (at the "O" Show).
JF Admin.:
Thanks Sammy - Michael Franks most definitely! I'd like to hear Michael's music with a big orchestra setting ... string, horn, rhythm --- an all-out Philharmonic type show. I think, I'd even fly to Japan if they do it there. MF is one of the biggest inspirations of this site. A real consistent melodic soul.
The Orchestrion show was great. For me, it is the culmination of "what makes up Pat Metheny the artist" this far in his music life. Lookout though, cause usually after big undertakings like these ... a complete u-turn happens, like maybe ... Pat Metheny (completely acoustic doing simple tunes with a Brasilian or Japanese vocalist) ... I would sooooo totally love this.
Anyway man ... it's been a blast.
keep in touch ... glad you dig the Argentinians : )

this is what we need. gertrude
JF Admin.:
Thank You Gertrude - I promise you, The Flight will never ever "go with the flow" ... There will be no compromises when it comes to our music selection --- It must always be high grade to my ears ... real musicians with real understanding of Melody + Harmony :)

I like the commitment of this site to beautiful music and the arts. The only thing missing is a playlist. I'd love to know about the musicians and the artists involved in Julian's Flight, perhaps a staff's page, just to get to know who you guys are. Altogether, this site is a wonderful concept, your dedication shows through.
Best wishes and long live!
JC Cullers, NY
JF Admin.:
Hi JC - Thanks for your uplifting note. The Flight is mainly a singular vision of images and music. It stands for the subjectivity of "what looks and sounds good to me" : ) ... and that's the whole concept.
As for the playlist.
There will never be one.
If you really, really dig what you hear ... just describe it and I will tell you what it is ... I really like it when there's a serious interest about the music/work and the artist.
thanks again for taking time to write about wyf for JF : )

this is such a fresh take on music.

Hoping this develops even more.

JF Admin.:
Thank You Elvie -
The Flight has come a long way as it is : )
So many ideas ... so little time.
One thing though --- The music and images here will always be beautiful (from our pov) ... uncomplicated, timeless (because they won't ever be popular) ... most of all melodically harmonic.
peace + thanks

I wish the Flight and its captain a very good (so: very musical) 2010. Keep up the good work.
All the best from Holland.
JF Admin.:
Icy Holland eh? : )
Try Orlando these days Pauley.
Today, when i looked out the window it seemed like I was looking through a piece of diamond --- all crackly and to top that a grey day ... hehe!
5 years Pauley ... still Flying The Flight. It has turned into some kind of a friend to me. (as I was telling Greg) ... a very demanding friend who asks for the best Visual/Musical food you can feed it ...haha!
Oh btw. Metheny's "Orchestrion" promises to be one of his best work ever. Paul, I've heard things on SPIRIT OF THE AIR that I've never before heard anywhere ... Just the intro leading to the first crescendo alone was loaded with impossibly beautiful subtle chords ... this is not human anymore what this man is doing. His connection to his art is crystal and can only be achieved with an obsession for perfecting "The Beautiful" ... How ask Metheny man ... haha!
Man, thanks Paul ... I still play the CDs you've sent. Means a lot to me my friend.
Of course all the very best to the better half : ) --- Sandra.
take care my friend.
I keep you in here always.

Paul:
Thanks for the kind and wise words, my friend.
The few snippets I heard from Orchestrion are still unfolding to me, just like the best of Pat Metheny always does to me: generally revealing its beautiful and breathtaking secrets. The cd is ordered and I will watch and hear him play coming February in Holland, thankfully. It will be a devastating happening (to the senses and the emotions), I'm sure. Very much looking forward to that performance. And quite curious how he will manage to play the music all on his own. Quite a marvel.
I'm glad to read you're still in contact with Greg (which I am myself too). He's a great person and a fabulous musician.
Enjoy that crystal day in Orlando, bud.

Hello my dear friend Julian
Thanks a lot for your kind and warm comment on my MS page, its highly appreciated! I´m sorry to hear about your computer problems on MS, well it can really be “fucked up” this internet sometimes, can´t it?
Well I sure hope that you will find a way to make it function, because your fine and wise comments are truly very missed on myspace!… …but I know that its hard times for many people in these days, so we just have to carry on the best we can, and share our love and affection and human kindness, as best as we can! Now there was “the old hippie” talking again…ha….ha…but as you surely know: peace and love and understanding is still, and will always be very very important for the human race!
I send you and your loved ones many blessings
Leif
JF Admin.:
Leif -
My wonderful friend. It's nice to read you here on The Flight. You are an enlightened soul my friend and truly this comes through on your work in sound and visuals. I'm still not a 100% on Myspace as I'm still experimenting with my new machine. I'm a bit scared to use it on the unknown parts of the internet ... ha-ha! For now, I'm happy that I'm able to do some visual work on it i.e. --- Visuals on The Flight.
Thank you Leif for reaching out to me all this time. Your kindness shines through and yes, Love, Affection and human kindness if totally understood will see the human race.
Likewise, all the best in the new year to your love ones, your passion for music and visuals ... always take care.
your friend always,
-Julian

I just listened to Dawn Wind - "Your Soul is You Own" .. but who is the actual group? I see now that "Dawn Wind" is a 15th Century poem .. but who are the musicians that you feature on your page?
JF Admin.:
Hi Carlos -
"Dawn Wind" is by UK, independent Artist Ian Neal.
From his CD, "All In The Golden Afternoon". Ian is a friend of The Flight ... also a visual artist, who has been featured here on JF a couple of years back. His musical work is characterized by an array of highly melodic/harmonic crescendoes accompanied by thick instrumentation and spoken word.
Here is his website: www.ianneal.com
'hope this helps Carlos and thanks a world for still checking THE FLIGHT.
always in music,
-Julian
